Kilkenny Lions Club invited young people across the city and county to participate in the European Young Ambassadors Programme, which operates throughout Europe and whose objective is to recognise, encourage and support young people, who are actively involved in the welfare of the community.
Marie Kennedy, Kilkenny Lions Club facilitated this process with Comhairle Na nÓg and the two main youth providers in the county, Foroige and Ossory Youth Services. A number of young people went forward for consideration.
The selection of Kilkenny’s Lions Club candidate to go forward to the regional finals was undertaken by an independent panel of judges who choose one young person to go forward to the Regional Finals in Carlow later in the month.
Padraig Keegan, President Kilkenny Lions acknowledged that the judging panel had a difficult task as Kilkenny is very fortunate to have bright, articulate young people who are full of commitment and enthusiasm and at a very young age are demonstrating leadership in their communities.
